What is cupping?
Cupping is a technique whereby glass or plastic cups are used to create a localized vacuum over a small predetermined site. It's an ancient Chinese system where they originally used heat inside glass or bamboo cups. Nowadays, modern cupping sets use suction to create the vacuum which causes the blood to form in the area to assist healing.
This therapy works
by alleviating the pain at the localised site which practitioners believe causes imbalances within the bodies Qi. When a
cup is place upon a problematic zone, the vacuum creates an increase in the circulation to the area. This has been shown clinically
to reduce pain at the site.
Whilst pain relief is a major reason for cupping it can also release toxins trapped within your body. The suction from the cups penetrates deep into the tissues enabling them to release the toxins. It also stimulates the lymphatic system and stretches and activates the skin.
Benefits are many when using cups and they can be applied in many forms of treatment. Conditions cupping can
