Your session of facial Revitalisation Acupuncture lasts around two hours and is broken down into three main therapy parts. On your first
consultation a full medical history will be taken and it is wise to be honest in answering as there are some contra-indications for
FRA (see faq page).
The consultant may recommend traditional acupuncture first if there is a condition that requires remedial action. Further, recommendations may be made regarding diet and life style changes that would help in the process.
Part one begins with a Tui Na facial massage. This is a vigorous style of massge that brings energy into the face and helps collagen production.
Part two is where we use acupuncture to manage
the Qi flow and stimulate the toning process. The treatment involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the face and scalp.
The needles will be left in place for around 30 minutes. This process is virtually painless and very relaxing. Mild electro stimulation
using pads place along the jaw to stimulate muscle action is also used at this stage. This is something you are allowed to control so
you stay within your 'comfortable' range.
Part three is a gentle facial massage to get the blood moving to the tissues and the Qi moving through the face. The massage also follows the contours of the bones to envigorate the skin.
Finally a 'derma roller' is used which activates the circulation and moves the qi stimulated by the previous acupuncture. This gentle
action can feel as if facial lines and tension are being ironed out.
Note - on occasion some redness or bruising may occur. This is perfectly normal and will disappear quickly.
